How much does it cost to paint pottery? Prices for each pre-glazed ceramic piece typically range from $12 to $65, but most pieces fall in the $18-$30 range. This price accounts for your piece, studio time, and our use of our glazes and supplies.
How long does it take to paint something? Generally, painters should plan on spending about an hour or two in our studio, depending on each artist’s attention to detail.
What if I don’t have enough time to finish my piece? If you run out of time, you will receive a one-time use coupon to utilize our studio and supplies again. We will store unfinished pieces for 30 days. After 30 days, you will be assessed a $10 studio fee to return to complete your items. Any items left more than 90 days are considered abandoned and will be donated. No compensation will be given.
Do I need a reservation? Walk-in pottery painters are welcome during regular business hours for groups of 6 or fewer. Seating is on a first come, first served basis. However, groups of 7 painters or more should make a reservation.
Does the studio offer private parties for adult groups? We do offer private parties for bachelorettes, church groups, and more. You can paint pottery, wood projects, fuse glass or clay. Any parties outside regular business hours require a $50 non-refundable deposit plus a $250 minimum spending budget for two hours then $100 is added for each additional hour. If your group does not meet the minimum, the host will be charged the difference.
When will my pottery be ready? Your pottery pieces will be glazed and fired on-site in our kilns. Our drying, glazing, and firing process takes about two weeks to complete.
Will we get a reminder when our pottery is ready to pick up? We typically send a text message reminder to pick up pottery about once a month. It is every painter’s responsibility to pick up their own pottery after two weeks at the risk of their piece being lost or damaged.
How long do you keep pottery pieces? After your pieces are fired, they are kept on the pick up shelves for 30 days. Any damage incurred to items left for more than 30 days will not be compensated in any way. After 30 days, items are boxed up and held for 90 days. Anything left for more than 90 days is considered abandoned and will be donated.
Is my pottery food safe? Dishwasher safe? Microwave? Yes to all! However, keep in mind that ceramics risk cracking at high temperatures.
I am a perfectionist. Will my pottery be perfect? Due to the nature of kiln-fired arts, imperfections can occur. Your individually handcrafted pieces along with their imperfections and slight slips of the artist’s hand are what make them special. Please be aware: On rare occasions, kiln-fired pieces can crack during the firing process. On even rarer occasions there are human errors. Please be assured that we will offer a credit to you for the value of your piece. We do not offer credit on natural imperfections incurred as part of the art process.
Does the studio offer any other walk-in projects? We offer a variety of wooden projects for walk-in guests to paint with acrylic paint. These projects go home with their painters the day they finish them! We have a variety of shapes and sizes that range in price from $25 to $65, including supplies such as bows, buttons, or string to hang them wherever you like!
What about glass fusing? Since glass fusing is a more intensive process, it requires close guidance from one of our professional instructors and must be scheduled [at least a week] in advance. Fused glass starts at $55 per person with the first visit and includes instruction to create a 6 x6 or 8 x 8 piece of glass. We do occasionally offer specialized glass fusing classes at different rates. Once you have taken a class or private lesson, you can schedule time to work on glass and pay by the glass shape and size.
Can we make pottery from clay? We do offer both hand-building classes as well as try-it, beginner, and intermediate pottery classes for teens and adults. Join a class or book a private lesson or party.
